Exclusion of the Public

RECOMMENDATION That, having been satisfied that the public interest test would be better served by not disclosing relevant information, and in accordance with the provisions of Section 100 (A) (4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business because of the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act as amended

Appointment of Head of Legal and Democratic Services

To consider reports from the Assessment Centre held on 2nd March 2015 and to interview shortlisted candidates for appointment to the post of Head of Legal and Democratic Services and the statutory role of Council Monitoring Officer

Minutes:

Two candidates having withdrawn prior to the Assessment Centre, the Committee received presentations from, and interviewed, 3 shortlisted candidates.

 

In reaching a decision, they also took into account the technical interviews conducted in January, reports from the Assessment Centre and stakeholder panel meetings held on 2nd March 2015. On behalf of the Council, the Chair thanked Rashpal Kaur Singh for her support throughout the process.

 

On a motion by Councillor Paul Crossley, it was RESOLVED:

 

(1)  Subject to the satisfactory completion of necessary checks, to offer the appointment to Maria Lucas on a starting salary within the approved range and in accordance with other advertised terms and conditions from a date to be agreed; and

 

(2)  To recommend to Full Council that the post holder be designated its Monitoring Officer in accordance with Section 5 of the Local Government Act 1989 as amended by Schedule 5 of the Local Government Act 2000.
