Decision details
Corporate Parenting Strategy
Decision Maker: Cabinet
Decision status: Approved
Is Key decision?: Yes
Is subject to call in?: Yes
Purpose:
Cabinet are asked to approve the Council's Corporate Parenting Strategy setting out how it will act as a good corporate parent and promote good outcomes for children and young people in and moving on from care.
Decision:
(1) To APPROVE the Corporate Parenting Strategy.
Reasons for the decision:
There is no statutory requirement to have a Corporate Parenting Strategy. However, given the importance of the Council’s Corporate Parenting function and the fact that there is otherwise no single document that sets out clearly in one place and separate from other strategies the Council’s strategy for Corporate Parenting, it is considered highly desirable to adopt such a strategy. The strategy has a wide potential audience including children and young people, families, carers, Council staff, partner services and agencies, Government departments and agencies including OFSTED and other bodies.
Alternative options considered:
