Purpose:

Every Disabled Child Matters is a campaign by the Council for Disabled Children to promote the rights of disabled children and young people by encouraging Local Authorities to sign up to a charter of objectives. This report reviews our services against these objectives and recommends the local authority signs the EDCM charter.

Decision:

(1) To ADOPT the Every Disabled Child Matters Charter on behalf of the Council;

(2) To AUTHORISE the Cabinet Member for Early Years, Children and Youth to sign the Charter on behalf of the Council.

Reasons for the decision:

The Council will meet all the objectives in the EDCM Charter by October 2011 so it is appropriate to sign up
