Purpose:
In September 2024 Cabinet approved resetting
Local Plan preparation as a result of government changes to
national policy and revised figure of housing need. Resetting
preparation necessitated changes to the programme of preparing the
Local Plan to be set out in a revised Local Development Scheme
(LDS). Cabinet delegated authority to the Executive Director of
Sustainable Communities, in consultation with the Cabinet Member
for Built Environment, Housing and Sustainable Development to agree
and publish revisions to the LDS reflecting revisions to the Local
Plan 2025-2043 programme. A set of further minor/factual revisions
to the preparation programme for this Local Plan are necessary and
these are set out in revisions to the LDS. The revisions are
subject to officer approval as per the delegated authority outlined
above. The revised LDS is published in March 2026.
Decision:
To approve minor factual revisions to the
Local Development Scheme reflecting the changes to the Local Plan
2025-2043 programme. The revised Local development Scheme to be
published on the council's website.
Alternative options considered:
No other options were considered as the
changes to the Local Plan preparation programme are factual. It is
necessary to articulate and publicise the programme changes via the
Local Development Scheme.
