Decision details
Project Funding - Heritage Services Warehouse
Decision Maker: Executive Director - Sustainable Communities
Decision status: Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
Heritage Services is moving part of the Roman
Baths collection to new warehouse facilities, in order to enable
the redevelopment of the Culverhay site.
There are minor capital improvements required to the new premises,
to create a compliant, secure, and appropriate environment for
storing these items.
Decision:
To fully approve capital amounting to
£25k from the provisional capital programme item Heritage
Services Infrastructure Development
Alternative options considered:
Do nothing: This was not an option as this is
an enabling project for the wider redevelopment of the Culveryhay
site. By relocating collections to a compliant facility, the
Council safeguards its Accredited Museum status, enabling future
funding and supporting Bath’s reputation as a world-class
heritage destination. This project protects valuable collections
from environmental damage and supports operational efficiency,
reducing the risk of costly conservation works.
