Purpose:
The Plan outlines the action we will take to
improve air quality in the city of Bath between
2024-2029.
Decision:
To adopt the Bath Air Quality Action Plan 2024.
Reasons for the decision:
Under Part IV of the Environment Act 1995 as amended by the Environment Act (2021), and the relevant Policy and Technical Guidance documents local authorities are required to review and assess air quality within their area.
In 2002, the Council declared an Air Quality Management Area in Bath, this was later updated to the current area in 2013.
This action plan replaces the previous action plan which ran from 2011-2024 and covers the Bath Air Quality Management Area.
This plan will be reviewed every five years at the latest and progress on measures set out within this Plan will be reported annually, within Bath and North East Somerset Council’s air quality annual status report.
Adopting the Bath Air Quality Action Plan (2024-2029) will ensure the Council comply with our statutory responsibilities.
