Decision details
Locksbrook Warehouse FitOut
Decision Maker: Executive Director - Sustainable Communities
Decision status: Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
The project involves essential preparatory
work at Units 3 and 4 of Locksbrook Court, warehouse units leased
by Heritage Services for storing archive materials and retail
stock. This initiative aims to ensure the buildings comply with
health and safety standards, providing a safe working environment
for staff and protecting valuable stock and irreplaceable
collections from damage or theft.
Decision:
To fully approve capital amounting to
£53k from the provisional capital programme item Heritage
Services Infrastructure Development
Alternative options considered:
Do nothing: This is not an option, the Record
Office collection is currently stored at Culverhay and needs to be
relocated to allow the development of that site for other Council
activity.
To relocate without carrying out any enabling works: Discounted as
staff and stock would be at risk due to lack of heating, fire and
safety systems and CCTV. Passive conditions within the spaces are
not within acceptable limits for collections storage and over time
this will cause significant damage to the collections.
