Purpose:
The Department for Education (DfE) allocate
High Needs Provision Capital Allocation (HNPCA) funding to support
local authorities to deliver new places and improve existing
provision for children and young people with Special Educational
Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). It is proposed to identify
£150,000 of the grant allocated to commission feasibility
studies that consider how and where additional SEND provision can
be developed within the Council's area.
Decision:
To fully approve £150,000 of the HNPCA
grant to commission feasibility studies. This £150,000 would
be fully approved for the further delegated authority approval of
Chris Wilford for individual studies and development work.
Alternative options considered:
None - Feasibility studies budget will enable
officers to undertake feasibility studies and options appraisals to
determine the most cost effective and suitable solutions to improve
existing SEND provision and carry out building projects to provide
new places. Feasibility studies are also used to aid financial
planning and determine future funding priorities.
