Decision details
Bath Sports & Leisure Centre Rooftop Solar PV (grant funded) 1 of 2
Decision Maker: Executive Director - Sustainable Communities
Decision status: Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
To install solar panels on the Bath Sports
& Leisure Centre roof using grant funds awarded by Sport
England (Swimming Pool Support Fund). This first phase includes
funding allocation for a roof survey to confirm the load that the
roof will support and enable the full capacity that was bid for; a
second phase will be approved when a positive outcome is received.
Following consultation with building engineers, it is estimated
that the roof will support approximately 50kwp of solar without
needing confirmation from a roof survey.
Decision:
To approve capital project set-up to the value
of £94k to install solar panels and funded by grant money (a
further £79k will be requested subsequently).
Alternative options considered:
The only alternative is doing nothing, however
the agreed proposals will help to decarbonise the estate and help
to meet the B&NES target of 12MW installed renewable capacity
on its corporate estate by 2030. It will help to improve the
viability of the Sports and Leisure Centre and reduce carbon
dioxide emissions.
