Purpose:
Deliver the next phase following on from the
tree planting programme, by establishing the initial watering &
maintenance of the trees. This is essential to ensure the success
of the tree establishment and prevent the saplings from dying. This
contributes to the delivery of regional targets to increase tree
canopy cover, and also helps fight against pollution and climate
change and contributes to a thriving city that’s safe and
clean.
Decision:
To fully approve £25,250 of capital
budget, fully funded by Developers CIL
Alternative options considered:
Do nothing - If initial maintenance of the
newly planted trees is not carried out, there is a high chance the
saplings will die and the successful establishment of the tree
assets will fail, therefore this is not considered to be a viable
option.
