Purpose:
The Cabinet Paper (E3323) approved: the
release of 8 surplus Council sites and assets for use as Affordable
Housing; an immediate release of funding to progress the sites with
a capital programme approval of £12.154m; approved the wider
social housing budget; and then stated that individual scheme
business cases will be authorised through the existing capital
processes and in consultation with the relevant Cabinet
Member.
Following successful consents and tendered specification this
decision releases the capital funding to progress the conversion
and refurbishment of Argyle Works, Bath into eight units of
Affordable Housing (social rent).
Decision:
To award contract and associated resources of
£3.240m to progress the construction of 8 units of Affordable
Housing (social rent) on the Argyle Works site the project, with
further approval of £204k to reflect award of grant from
Brownfield Land Release Fund.
Alternative options considered:
Do nothing. However, this option would
contradict cabinet decision E3323; would not bring an unused site
back into productive use or provide much needed Affordable
Housing.
