Highways and Transport Grant Allocation

Decision Maker: Director of Place Management

Decision status: Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Additional Highways and Transport Grant Allocation of £791,952 has been issued by the West of England to reflect a higher government settlement for 2023/24, an increase of 11% on original grant allocation of £6,997,000 within the existing Highways Maintenance and Transport Improvement Programme

This additional funding is recommended to address three additional priority locations currently in a poor state of repair for inclusion in the Resurfacing Programme :-
Southdown Road, Southdown, Bath £275,000
Rock Road/Ashton Way, Keynsham £175,000
High Street, Chew Magna £275,000

The balance of funding £66,962 will supplement the Patching programme to improve roads across the network in poor condition not currently featuring for full resurfacing.

Decision:

Approval of further £771,962 to 2023/24 Highways Maintenance Programme

Alternative options considered:

There has been significant increase in potholes over winter 22/23 which the funding will address. Planning for carriageway resurfacing and planned patching programmes of work are both well advanced and this allows for further works to be delivered in the warmer months of the year.
