Purpose:
The Cabinet Paper (E3323) approved: the
release of 8 surplus Council sites and assets for use as Affordable
Housing; an immediate release of funding to progress the sites;
approved the wider social housing budget; and then stated that
individual scheme business cases will be authorised through the
existing capital processes and in consultation with the relevant
Cabinet Member.
Following successful consents and tendered specification this
decision releases the capital funding to progress the conversion
and refurbishment of 19 Westgate Street into three units of
Affordable Housing (social rent).
Decision:
To fully approve £686k of capital
funding from the Social Housing budget to progress the conversion
and refurbishment of 19 Westgate Street into three units of
Affordable Housing (social rent).
Alternative options considered:
Do nothing. However, this option would
contradict cabinet decision E3323; would not bring an unused
building back into productive use or provide much needed Affordable
Housing.
