Decision details
Alexandra Park Vehicle Access Controls
Decision Maker: Director of Place Management
Decision status: Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
To enable Alexandra park to be closed to
vehicles overnight but allow any cars left in the park to exit
without the need for further assistance. This will be achieved
using bollards, signage, speed ramps, line marking and one-way
traffic flow plates which will allow vehicles to exit the park once
it is locked but prohibit any new vehicles entering
overnight.
Decision:
To fully approve the capital scheme to the
value of £25k, funded by borrowing.
Alternative options considered:
1.Install an automatic rising bollard or boom
barrier with CCTV camera. This is more costly to install and
maintain, less sustainable and more visually intrusive.
2. Do nothing – there are regular complaints of anti-social
behaviour from local residents if the park road is left unlocked
overnight. Approximately 50 out of hours call outs to the park per
annum to release cars locked in the park.
