Purpose:

Conservation Area character appraisals have been prepared for three Conservation Areas.  It is proposed to designate proposed boundary revisions and to adopt and publish the documents for planning guidance purposes.

Decision:

The Cabinet Members agree, in accordance with the powers contained in Section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, to designate the revised boundaries of the Midsomer Norton and Welton, Saltford and Queen Charlton Conservation Areas as shown in the respective Conservation Area Character Appraisals, and that notice of the designations be duly given and advertised in accordance with the provisions of Section 70 of the Act.

 

The Cabinet Members also agree the adoption and publication of the Midsomer Norton and Welton, Saltford and Queen Charlton Conservation Area Character Appraisals and Management Plans.

Reasons for the decision:

The approach adopted follows the duty imposed under Sections 69 and 71 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 and associated best practice guidance published by Historic England.  The proposals and documents supplement Placemaking Plan Policy HE1 - Historic Environment.
