Decision details
Microwave replacement for CCTV operations
Decision Maker: Cabinet Member - Finance and Efficiency, Cabinet Member - Transport and Environment
Decision status: Approved
Is Key decision?: Yes
Is subject to call in?: Yes
Purpose:
S106 draw down approval is required from 13/01780/EOUT – Former Cadbury factory, Cross St, Keynshamto support improved and reliable CCTV provision to the area.
Decision:
The Cabinet Members agree to:-
Approve an additional item to the capital programme in order to release of Section 106 funding from the Cadbury development plan in the sum of £88,638 in order to replace the microwave link and provide new cameras as specified.
Reasons for the decision:
This is part of a wider project which is separately funded which removes the wireless mast located at Sulis Manor and enables complete replacement of microwave link cameras.
It will not only deliver financial savings but also greater resilience and reliability as well as more flexibility to add additional cameras to the system if required.
Alternative options considered:
We have looked at other options such as laying fibre/copper but this will be much too expensive and the same results can be done for a much cheaper solution that works a lot better than the current technology.
