Purpose:
To approve capital schemes proposed within Environmental Services
Decision:
(1) To APPROVE the release of the £100K capital allocated to Haycombe Cemetery and Crematorium to improve the experience for visitors and give the potential to provide flowers and refreshments on site.
Reasons for the decision:
The facilities (other than the crematorium building itself) are not modern. The reception area does not provide for a good customer experience. The layout is not ideal for efficient working, nor does it give privacy for relatives in what can be difficult and emotional circumstances. There is a real need to modernise the facilities in order to enhance our services and to be able to offer additional facilities such as a floral service, and refreshments.
Alternative options considered:
The strategy has emerged following extensive research and consultation which considered a wide range of options. A report on the consultation is attached to the report for information and the background report is available as a background document.
