Purpose:
This decision is for approval of £165k
grant contribution towards the Canal and River Trust project costs
to complete the upgrade to the surface of the canal tow path
between Bathwick Hill and Horseshoe Walk. This section of the canal
towpath is a popular walkway which is in poor condition and
deteriorates further during wet weather. The plan is to improve its
surface for regular all year use. Work will be completed by June
2026.
Decision:
To fully approve capital budget of
£165k, this is additional grant for the Canal and River Trust
to add to the previously approved funding of £130k. The
£165k will be funded by grant from the Mayoral Combined
Authority’s CRSTS (City Regional Sustainable Transport
Scheme) as part of the Bath Sustainable Walking, Wheeling &
Cycling project. This is subject to MCA approval and will be
underwritten from BANES capital contingency pending MCA grant
approval.
