Decision details
Bath City Centre Phase 1 budget uplift
Decision Maker: Executive Director - Sustainable Communities
Decision status: Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
The Bath City Centre Sustainable Transport
Corridor will deliver infrastructure through the centre of Bath to
support the adoption of active travel, with the aim of reducing car
dependency. The project was initially handed over from WECA to
B&NES in early 2025, with a CRSTS budget of £455k to
progress design deliver a Full Business Case for the scheme.
Necessary design amends and additional work to ensure preliminary
design approval have necessitated a budget uplift of £198k,
which was sought from the Combined Authority and approved in July
2025. The business case was submitted to the Combined Authority for
approval in September 2025.
Decision:
To fully approve the receipt of £198k of
additional funding from the Combined Authority in order to deliver
detailed designs and a Full Business Case for Phase 1 of the Bath
City Centre project.
Alternative options considered:
To not proceed with the budget uplift, which
would have limited the Council’s ability to complete the
business case and proceed to delivery.
