Purpose:
Provide improved pedestrian facilities between
residential areas and three schools (Longvernal primary School, St
John’s C of E Primary School and Somervale Secondary
School).
The proposed works include two zebra crossings, widened footways,
mobility crossings, continuous footways and a section of new
footway.
Decision:
To approve the £500,000 capital allocation for the Clapton Road and Redfield Road proposed pedestrian improvements project.
Reasons for the decision:
This scheme was identified through the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) as a strategic pedestrian route linking three schools in Midsomer Norton.
Alternative options considered:
The possibility of CRSTS 1 funding has been considered to fund the construction but currently this is not an option.
