Purpose:
This project completes work to the historic
Victoria Spa buildings which was not undertaken as part of the
Archway Project in 2020. It will provide staff facilities, a
changing room and storage facility for the Operations Team and
costumed interpretors who work at the Roman Baths and across the
Heritage Services Estate.
Currently these staff have inadequate welfare facilities and recent
Radon testing has highlighted a statutory requirement to relocate
staff from the areas previously used. The project will address this
compliance issue.
Decision:
To fully approve capital amounting to 125k
from the provisional capital programme item Heritage Infrastructure
Development of £550k.
Alternative options considered:
Do nothing. To do nothing would mean that the
Council was not providing a safe environment for staff and
contractors to work. This is not acceptable.
