Fashion Museum Renovation - Funding for Design Costs
Decision Maker: Executive Director - Sustainable Communities
Decision status: Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
The Old Post Office building needs to be
redesigned as a new museum with planning and listed building
consent required prior to implementation of the building
renovation. Additional grant funding was awarded by WECA on 26th
July 2024 to supplements the existing Milsom Quarter Delivery WECA
grant funding and supports the appointment of a design team
(architectural and exhibition design), alongside specialist
technical input and surveys. This will enable the detailed design
of the Fashion Museum for fit out to include exhibitions, a retail
space and cafe, wayfinding, signage and access. It will create an
efficient layout for safe and optimal use of space.
Decision:
To accept a further £1,006.021 revenue
grant funding towards the design costs for the Fashion Museum
Renovation.
Alternative options considered:
Option 1 - The Council could decide not to
accept the additional grant funding, but this would leave a funding
shortfall to complete the RIBA 2 concept design work for the
Fashion Museum Renovation.
