Decision Maker: Cabinet Single-Member Decision

Decision status: Implemented

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Applications have been made for capital funding to support the following projects:

The extension of Haycombe Cemetery into adjoining Council owned land; and

The provisional of new mobile technology to support environmental enforcement

Decision:

The Cabinet members agree that:

·  Capital funding of £200k should be granted for the extension of Haycombe Cemetery;

·  Capital funding of £35k should be granted for new mobile technology to support environmental enforcement.

Reasons for the decision:

Extension of Haycombe Cemetery:

This project is crucial to preserving burial spaces for the future and ensuring that the Council can continue to provide a local choice for residents of Bath and North East Somerset.

New mobile technology to support environmental enforcement:

This investment is necessary to ensure that enforcement with respect to environmental offences, such as litter and dog fouling, is effective and robust.

Alternative options considered:

Consideration was given to delaying the extension to Haycombe Cemetery however in view of the critical need for burial spaces this was not deemed possible.
