St Gregory's School SEND Resource Base

Decision Maker: Director of Children’s Services & Education

Decision status: Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

To build a new stand-alone single storey building at St Gregory’s School to enable the school to open a specialist Resource Base. The project will also create three acoustically treated classrooms in the main school building to accommodate hearing impaired pupils. The Resource Base will accommodate up to 20 pupils with SEND who will attend mainstream school and receive additional specialist support at the Base.

Decision:

To fully approve £1,343,000 of capital budget, fully funded by Higher Needs Provision Capital Allocation grant.

Alternative options considered:

MATS/Schools in BANES were approached to ascertain if they were interested in opening resource base provision for SEND children. The MATS/Schools submitted their “Visions" which were considered jointly between the LA, Bath Parent Carer Forum and the MATS/schools. The resource bases needed to offer provision that fitted with B&NES requirements and the data available at the time. From the submissions received, feasibility and development work has been carried out and the project at St Gregory’s School is considered a deliverable project which will meet LA SEND needs.
