Purpose:
To approve £200k additional capital
budget towards the five-year Bath High Street Renewal programme, in
line with the Full Business Case and concept design approved and as
per delegated approval through Cabinet Report E3260.
The programme combines targeted public realm interventions with
support for events, animation and culture on the streets and in
public spaces focused on the Milsom Quarter and Kingsmead Square,
together with other city centre wide interventions relating to
outdoor trading.
Decision:
To fully approve £200k capital budget
from the provisional budget for the Bath City Centre Renewal
Programme and funded from CIL (Community Infrastructure
Levy).
Alternative options considered:
If we do nothing, the programme and high
street will not receive the additional support it needs and could
continue to decline. The preferred option provides economic and
social benefits for residents, businesses and visitors to the
city.
