Purpose:
To fund early stage 2022/23 capital project
costs for Somer Valley Rediscovered, a partnership project which
was set up to improve the biodiversity of the Somer Valley and
improve the quality of accessible and biodiverse greenspace. It
will enable the local community to make use of these spaces for
nature connection and reap the many health benefits associated with
spending time in the natural environment.
Decision:
To fully approve capital amounting to
£12k for Somer Valley Rediscovered funded from WECA
grant.
Alternative options considered:
We could decide not to proceed with the
project. However, we would lose existing grassland habitat and at
the same time lose the opportunity to improve it while creating
attractive places for people and wildlife.
