Purpose:
The project is for reduction of carbon
emissions and energy use at Clutton depot by fitting a full roof of
PV panels for on-site renewable energy generation and to store our
own electricity. These improvements will give capacity to charge
our growing fleet of electric vehicles, increase the amount of
renewable energy locally generated and at the same time reduce the
Council’s carbon footprint.
Decision:
To fully approve capital amounting to
£144k funded from the provisional capital budget: Renewable
Energy Development Fund.
Alternative options considered:
Various options were assessed including doing
nothing, however the cost of the agreed improvements is expected be
less than the future savings on running costs.
