Purpose:
To fund the position of a Renewables Programme
Manager to develop the renewable energy programme and expand
renewable energy generation. The council has declared a climate
emergency and set a target to achieve net zero by 2030. Analysis
has identified increasing renewable energy generation as a key
component of achieving net zero.
Decision:
To fully approve capital amounting to
£200k funded from the provisional capital budget for
Renewable Energy in B&NES.
Alternative options considered:
Various options were assessed including doing
nothing, redeploying existing staff or using consultants, however
we require specific skills to develop a successful renewable energy
programme.
