Purpose:
The policy setting out how the Local Authority assesses a route to school and therefore determines eligibility to transport is formalised into a new policy and processes paper. The decision is to adopt the policy

The Cabinet Member agrees that the policy will be adopted as the methodology of determining whether a route is safe.
Reasons for the decision:
The policy provides a clear methodology of how a route is defined as safe to walk or cycle. The policy also explains how appeals to the process will be conducted providing clarity to parents as to how decisions will be made.

No alternative options were considered as the policy is to provide additional clarity of processes that exist.
