Purpose:
To award grants to voluntary sector groups to maintain provision of community transport in 2019-20.
Decision:
The Cabinet Member agrees that, under authority delegated by the West of England Combined Authority (WECA), the funding proposals in Appendix 2 of the Report be approved and implemented.
Reasons for the decision:
The funding arrangements will ensure the continuation of existing community transport services through 2019-20 and will help the Council meet its objectives.
Alternative options considered:
The option of inviting applications for grants and assessing them (as in previous years) was considered but rejected owing to insufficient staff resources to carry out the process and the likelihood that the process would not produce any new information.
The option of re-negotiating new service level agreements with the dial-a-ride schemes was considered but also rejected for similar reasons.
