NOTE OF INTERVIEW

28TH SEPTEMBER 2006

INTERVIEW WITH LUDEK MAJER

Ludek Majer is a team leader in Planning Services. He attended all three meetings in relation to the development adjacent to 57 Manor Park in Writhlington. He knows that Councillor Phyllis Gay lives in the area. According to his documents the development is probably about 50 or 100 yards from her house. He did not believe that the property would be affected by the development proposal directly. There would be some impact in that any traffic going to the site would have to go past her house. However, the impact of the traffic would affect about 150 other residents as well as Councillor Gay.

Councillor Phyllis Gay did make it clear at the meetings that the traffic situation is already difficult in that area and would get more difficult as a result of further development. She was making that point from her local knowledge. However, she had often made that point in relation to other sites in Radstock and he does not think the comment was inappropriate for a local member to make in respect of their ward area. In his opinion, he does not think that Councillor Phyllis Gay tried to influence the committee's decision other than as any local councillor for the area would in respect of any development in their ward. He did not think that Councillor Gay's behaviour at the meetings was inappropriate for a committee member.

I confirm that this is a correct record of the interview
