GLOSSARY AND DESCRIPTIONS

Carer

Someone who provides regular, unpaid help and support to a child, partner, relative, friend or neighbour who could not manage without their help

CYP

Children and Young People, one of the four Local Area Agreement blocks

Deep cleans

An initiative designed to bring together a range of services to address multiple issues in a targeted local area, for example including Highways, Street Cleansing and Parks services.

Digital infrastructure

Information, communication technology equipment and systems that help businesses and others do their work

EDE

Economic Development and Enterprise, one of the four Local Area Agreement blocks

HOP

Health and Older People, one of the four Local Area Agreement blocks

Individualised budgets

Government initiative being piloted by Bath & North East Somerset Council whereby people would receive funding to use as they wish in order to meet their needs. Individuals would be encouraged to look beyond existing services and consider alternative solutions, making the process more focussed on greater independence and individual choice.

Local Compact

An agreement between voluntary organisations and statutory organisations about the way they work together

Neighbourhood policing

New style of policing to be introduced in 2008 with the development of neighbourhood teams to deliver services at a local level
