Park's Play Equipment
Decision Maker: Director of Place Management
Decision status: Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
1.To undertake essential replacement of play
equipment in parks during 2022/23 to the value of £224k as
part of our rolling capital programme at locations as follows:
Sandpits, Weston Rec, Spencer Drive MSN, Manor Copse Writhlington,
Widcombe Bath, Corston View Bath, RVP Bath, Clandown, Calton Road
Bath, Pennyquick Park
2.To fund play equipment at Sydney Gardens to the value of
£176k, installed as part of the Heritage Lottery
Project.
Decision:
To fully approve £400k of funding held
in the provisional capital programme for 2022/23. This is fully
funded by council borrowing (£330k) and a mixture of
developer contributions and grant (£70k.)
Alternative options considered:
Regular inspections are undertaken of play
areas to identify equipment that is ending its life and is in need
of replacement. The Play team have prioritised schemes for delivery
in 2022/23 where replacement is essential – equipment will
otherwise need to be removed and will not be available for
continued use.
