Purpose:
To allow committed highways works to York
Street to be brought forward to replace waterproofing above the
vault and reconstruct the road to complete the repairs and reduce
risk of any premature failure of the vault in the future.
Decision:
To fully approve capital amounting to
£950,000 from the provisional capital programme item York
Street - Phase 2 Vault Repairs.
For information the Deputy Council Leader and Cabinet Member for
Resources was consulted.
Alternative options considered:
Option 1 - Do Nothing: the Council has a responsibility for maintenance of this structure and the road above - it would fail to deliver its statutory obligations and will fail to deliver projects agreed as part of the National Lottery Heritage Funding Archway Project funding bid/planning consent. The Council would fail to benefit from match funding opportunities.
