Purpose:
To refurbish empty council owned commercial
property and help to address the number of empty properties within
Bath City Centre. Future rental income will help to support Council
services. Properties will be refurbished so they are able to secure
a sustainable income, safe for occupation, and reduce their carbon
footprint where practicable.
Decision:
To fully approve capital amounting to
£740k from the provisional capital programme items Commercial
Estate Investment Fund (£592k) and Commercial Estate
Refurbishment Programme (£148k).
Alternative options considered:
The Council could do nothing but this would
leave properties empty in town centre locations with ongoing
holding costs and adverse public perception of the city.
