Purpose:
In October 2018 funding was secured from the
National Lottery Heritage Fund for the delivery of the 5 year
Bathscape Landscape Partnership Scheme. The Council is the lead
partner for the scheme and hosts the staff.The scheme delivers a
series of 25 projects under 4 themes. Overall the 25 projects will
deliver 80ha of improved woodland, 100 grassland sites under better
management, 12 new flower-rich meadows, 30 important viewpoints
assessed and managed, 10 archaeological sites surveyed and 5 new
friends groups. Over 3,800 people will attend walks and other
events in the landscape, and thousands more will have access to a
network of 19 new walks and additional trail guides. Three schools
will have piloted new materials and all schools will have access to
outdoor learning resources. Work will be carried out by 795
volunteers, delivering over 3,000 anticipated volunteer days and
600 training opportunities.
The proposal has received the support of the cabinet member for
Community Services.
Decision:
To allow committed Bathscape scheme delivery
to progress, through transfer of a budget of £494k from the
scheme’s Provisional budget of £2,006k to Full
Approval. The balance of the Provisional budget to be removed from
the 2019/2020 Capital Programme.
