Heritage Services Energy Capture Scheme
Decision Maker: Director of Economy & Growth
Decision status: Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
To capture energy from the hot spring, King's
Bath, to supplement the conventional energy usage at the Pump Room
complex and provide energy to the Clore Learning Centre.
Through reducing energy expenditure, the project demonstrates
commitment to sustainability and responsibility for the environment
through reducing need for conventional energy and reducing energy
expenditure.
Decision:
To fully approve capital amounting to
£350k from the provisional capital programme item of
£350k.
Alternative options considered:
Option 1 - To continue to use current heat
exchange equipment.
The current equipment is approaching obselence, maintenance and
efficiency mean it needs to be removed or replaced.
Option 2 - To buy energy from the national grid.
Buying energy from the grid would remove the need for the capital
project but it would be less sustainable and would lead to
increased costs.
